Entertainment Law & Distribution on scripted vs documentary roundtable

David Heinrich (he/him) is a member of the Lower Similkameen First Nation (BC), and has been an entertainment (and business) lawyer with Altman & Company since 2019. Before law school he studied literature, and spent 5 years teaching in Japan. In law school he focused his studies on media and entertainment law. After graduating he worked at OUTtv on broadcasting and contract matters before joining Altman & Co.
Karen Wong is the Executive Director of Moving Images Distribution, a non-profit organization that champions independent filmmakers and media artists. With over 20 years of experience in the arts and media sector, she has worked across various forms of production, including short films, web series, tv series, documentaries and feature films. Karen is committed to supporting underrepresented voices and advocating for fair compensation and creators’ rights. In her distribution role, she navigates the unique challenges independent and documentary filmmakers face in bringing their work to wider audiences.

Festival passes

This year, VAFF FESTIVAL, screening programs in person and virtual will be organized into various series in order to better highlight the diverse content in our festival.
